SPAIN Our travel favorite itinerary

Our favorite visit to Spain can be taken by private car (for greater flexibility) and motor coach (for greater relaxation).
Day 1. USA departure. Airline will be assigned subject to your hometown and the best direct or connecting service to Madrid. Suggested airlines, TWA, Iberia, Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, or KLM.
Day 2. Madrid. Arrive in Madrid. Transfer to central downtown hotel, three or four stars. Afternoon at your leisure.
Day 3. Madrid. Daily breakfasts included is at your various choice hotels. City vVisiting today will includes the Royal Palace, Retiro Park, and the main streets of the city. An afternoon tour will include the Museo del Prado and artistic highlights of the city.
Day 4. Madrid. Free day at your leisure to explore Madrids museums and parks.

Rental car option
Day 5. Madrid & Sevilla. Transfer today to the rail station for high-speed AVE train (2 hours 15 minutes) to Sevilla. Transfer and check in on arrival. As always, very central hotel accommodations. Afternoon at leisure to explore the citys old streets and neighborhoods.
Day 6. Sevilla. City sightseeing of Sevilla.
Day 7. Sevilla & Córdoba. Take possession of a rental car for the drive east to Cordoba Córdoba (1 hour 45, minutes). Stay overnight in town, three star hotels, always very central.
Day 8. Córdoba & Granada. Free time to visit Cordoba Córdoba on your own before driving to Granada (2 hours, 15 minutes). A possible stop en route is Ronda, birthplace of bullfighting with an interesting bullfight museum and pretty town setting. Overnight in the shadow of the Alhambra.
Day 9. Granada. Detailed visit of the Alhambra and Generalife gardens. Free time in the afternoon to visit Granada in depth.
Day 10. Granada & Toledo. Drive north today through olive orchards to Toledo (four hours) for two nights.
Day 11. Toledo. Visit on your own Toledos ancient center.
Day 12. Toledo & Avila. Continue driving northward to the fortress town of Avila (two hours) for the overnight.
Day 13 Avila & Escorial. Consider spending the morning in Avila before driving to the palace of El Escorial. (45 minutes) Overnight in Escorial.
Day 14. Escorial & Madrid. Reach the airport in time to return the rental can and check in for your homebound flight.

Non-driving option
Day 5. Toledo. A day tour today to visit Toledo.
Day 6. Escorial. A day tour today will include Avila and El Escorial.
Day 7. Madrid & Sevilla. By escorted motor coach tour now you will visit Sevilla, including dinner tonight.
Day 8. Sevilla. Today will be dedicated to Sevilla. Dinner included.
Day 9. Sevilla & Córdoba. By motor coach to Cordoba Córdoba for a visit with dinner and overnight.
Day 10. Córdoba & Granada. On to Granada by motor coach for the overnight and dinner.
Day 11. Granada. City visit of Granadas Alhambra and Generalife gardens. Dinner and overnight.
Day 12. Granada & Madrid. Return via rolling countryside to Madrid by motor coach.
Day 13. Madrid. Your last day in Spain will be at your leisure for final shopping or a last visit to the Prado.
Day 14. Madrid. Return to the airport now for homeward service, or else spend three nights in Barcelona as an extension to your trip.

Optional extension to Barcelona
Day 14. Madrid & Barcelona. Transfer to the rail station for the ride across northern Spain to Barcelona. Transfer and overnight.
Day 15. Barcelona. Morning at your leisure. In the afternoon a city tour highlighting the artistic legacy of the citys greats, Picasso, Miró, Gaudí.
Day 16. Barcelona. A morning tour of the citys monuments and neighborhoods. Suggest a visit to the city archaeological museum during your free afternoon.
Day 17. Barcelona. Transfer to the airport in time for your homebound flight!
