DAY 1: USA - LISBON [DEPART USA]
Boa Viagem! Dinner and a movie aloft as you make your way to Lisbon (overnight flight).

DAY 5: MADEIRA – LISBON [ARRIVE LISBON]
Fly to Lisbon, where a private driver will take you to your centrally-located hotel. Free afternoon to explore Lisbon’s network of narrow streets and see the Praҫa do Rossio or the Museo Arqueologico do Carmo.
DAY 6: LISBON [SIGHTSEEING ALFAMA & BAIRRO ALTO]
Detailed private sightseeing of Lisbon’s Alfama and Bairro Alto neighborhoods, including the Sé (Cathedral), the Rua da Misericordia and The Sun Gateway. Free time in the afternoon to visit the Museum of São Roque or enjoy the grand vistas from one of the city’s sun-drenched terraces.
DAY 7: LISBON [FREE DAY]
Free day to explore the city’s other neighborhoods, shop, and see any museums you may have missed. In the evening catch a fado concert—Lisbon’s version of the blues.
DAY 8: LISBON – SINTRA – FORTALEZA DE GUINCHO [REACH SINTRA]
Rent a car in Lisbon and drive to the UNESCO world heritage site of Sintra, once the favorite summer residence of the kings of Portugal. Continue on from Sintra to the Hotel Fortaleza de Guincho, an elegant escape on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic coast, with a Michelin-star restaurant.
DAY 9: FORTALEZA DE GUINCHO – SANTARÉM – TOMAR [ARRIVE TOMAR]
Wend your way north along the Tagus River, stopping at the Gothic village of Santarém to visit its splendid churches.
Arrive in Tomar. Settle into your hotel, then wander the cobbled streets in the old quarter of the city.
DAY 10: TOMAR – CONVENTO DE CRISTO [VISIT CONVENTO DE CRISTO]
Beat the crowds by making an early visit to the Convento de Cristo, the XII-c seat of the Knights Templar. Afternoon free to stroll around Tomar’s charming riverside parks and historic center.
DAY 11: TOMAR – FATIMA – PORTO [FATIMA EXCURSION / REACH PORTO]
Make a morning excursion to the sanctuary of Fatima, one of the world’s most famous pilgrimage sights, where the Virgin appeared to two young shepherds in the early XX-c bearing a message of peace. Detailed private sightseeing of the Basilica and the Chapel of the Apparitions. Continue on your Camino Portugués and arrive in the city of Porto.
DAY 12: PORTO [FREE DAY]
Free day to explore Porto, Portugal’s gateway to the north at the mouth of the River Douro. Visit the medieval borough of Old Porto, the wine lodges opposite Cais da Ribeira and the Fundaҫão de Serralves complex.
DAY 13: PORTO – DOURO VALLEY [DOURO VALLEY EXCURSION]
Enjoy an excursion to the Douro Valley, the oldest wine-growing region in the world, and visit a local estate to sample their Port wine. Return to Porto in the early evening.
DAY 14: PORTO – USA [RETURN HOME]
Check-in on time for your homebound flight. Welcome home!
Day 2: LISBON – MADEIRA [ARRIVE MAREIRA]
Change planes for your short flight to Madeira, affectionately known as the pearl of the Atlantic. In Madeira, transfer to your luxury hotel. Settle into your room, enjoy a chinesa (Madeira’s version of café au lait) and stroll around the harbor of Funchal. Restaurant suggestions will be provided throughout.
DAY 3: FUNCHAL [INTRODUCTORY SIGHTSEEING]
Daily breakfast included at each hotel. Detailed private sightseeing of Funchal, including promenades, terraces, the Soccoro belvedere, and the spectacle of fish vendors at the Mercado dos Lavradores.
DAY 4: FUNCHAL – LAURISILVA FOREST [FREE DAY]
